Can't get to A/C from inside RV!

We are trying to get to our A/C from within the cabin and see no way too. We have a ducted unit, so it has a ceiling where the ducting is ran. How the heck do oy uget up in there? I don't see a way to get into the panels. All of the sites I've found on the web sound like the return is supposed to be at the bottom of the unit. There are some return vents but we can't see the a/c or bottom of it. Is this normal? I have no idea how we can replace it if we can't get to the bottom of the unit. Ideas? Thanks in advance for your responses. This forum has been a wonderful help!

Air conditioner -

Is this what you would use to fill up freon? http://www.ideallyyoursphotography.com/freontube.jpg http://www.ideallyyoursphotography.com/freontube2.jpg We're still trying to figure out why the air isn't cooling...

A/C Woes

We bought our RV a few weeks ago, and while checking things out, we turned on the A/C using the generator. Air blew out th events but never got cold. Now, the A/C only blows when plugged into an outlet (no longer works on the generator at all). It's still room temp air coming out the vents, but one problem at a time. Any idea why it wouldn't work on the generator? The generator fires up immediately and seems to run smooth, but that's about the only way I know to tell if it's working or not. The fridge seems to cool. Not sure if that works off the generator or not. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

RE: Brand new to RVing.... AC isn't cold.

Thanks guys. I am decent at handywork, and feel confident I coul dreplace the unit myself. But, I will play around with it some more and make sure it's not user error, and check to make sure the compressor is coming on. The guy that had it before me lived in Delaware, which I'm pretty sure they didn't need to use the A/C much. He may not have known.. I dunno. I do know I'm in Tulsa and it gets flippin' hot and humid. If I DO have to replace it, would you guys say a single 15k BTU unit would be sufficient? Thanks! Mike

Brand new to RVing.... AC isn't cold.

We bought a 34' '96 Newmar Dutchstar last week. Everything seems peachy so far except that the ac isn't blowing cold air. It's room temperature. I don't have a CLUE who to call about it. A regular house AC guy? Or take it to an auto shop? The seller suggested I get a freon charge in it. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for any answers you guys can give me. Mike & Dea
